## Frequently asked questions

### Are these free online tools really free?
Yes, and free in the sense people usually mean: no account, no email address, no trial that expires and no feature held back for a paid tier. Every tool on this site opens and works immediately. There is no advertising on the pages either, which is unusual for a free tool site and worth stating plainly. This is a directory rather than a business built on your attention: the tools exist because they are cheap to run when the work happens in your browser instead of on our servers.

### Is anything I type uploaded to your server?
No. All five tools are JavaScript that runs on your device — the text you paste into the word counter, the password the generator makes, the wifi password you encode into a QR code and the dates you enter are never transmitted to us, never stored and never logged. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's network tab and watch that nothing is sent while you use a tool. It is also why the tools need JavaScript on. A server-side version would have to receive your data first, which is exactly what we are avoiding.

### What is the difference between the tools here and the projects in the directory?
The five tools on this site are ours: we built them, we maintain them, and they run on this domain. The directory below the search box lists independent mini projects, each with a single job and its own subdomain. We check that a listed project is free, works without a login and does not upload what it could process locally — but we do not run it and we do not take a cut of anything it does. If a listed project stops meeting those criteria, we remove it.

### How do I get my own tool listed?
Use the "list your project" form. Tell us what the tool does in a sentence, who it is for, and which subdomain you would like. We look at four things: it must be usable without an account, it should do one job properly rather than nine vaguely, it must not upload data it could process locally, and it must work on a phone. Listing is free, there is no exclusivity, and we translate your card into all twelve languages. We reply either way, including when the answer is no.

### Which language is this available in?
Twelve: English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish and Turkish. That covers the whole site, not just the front page — every tool label, every option in every dropdown, every result sentence and every guide. The language switcher keeps you on the page you were reading rather than dumping you back on the home page, and your choice is remembered in your browser without a cookie banner, because it never leaves your device.

### Can I use these tools for something that matters?
For everyday work, yes — that is what they are for. But treat them as information rather than advice: a unit conversion for a recipe is one thing, a unit conversion in an engineering tolerance is another, and a date calculation that a contract depends on should be checked against the contract's own definition of a "day". The password generator is the exception in one direction: it uses your browser's cryptographic randomness and is genuinely suitable for real passwords. Everything else is a calculator, and a calculator does not know what you are using it for.
